Notice biographique (en anglais seulement)

I am a Registered Nurse, currently working as a Research Coordinator with the Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario. Before getting into research, I worked as a Primary Care Paramedic and a Med/Surg Nurse. September 9, 2020, my children, and I witnessed my husband collapse at home from a sudden cardiac arrest and sadly, he did not survive. The following day, I was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed 2 days later with Takotsubo syndrome. So much has changed for me in those four years, while at the same time trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for our two children–now aged 14 & 16. A large part of my work has always involved evaluating treatments and outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest but since my own cardiac event, I have been drawn to wanting to take a closer look at our prehospital patient cardiovascular population and our interventions using a more sex lens approach. During my own cardiac rehabilitation, a physician said to me that“nature heals”–that, and regular exercise have been pivotal to my whole-body recovery–physically and psychologically–and I am ready to give back.
