Dr M.E. Piché is a cardiologist, assistant professor of Medicine at the CRIUCPQ-Laval University (Quebec Heart and Lung Institute), and early career clinical scientist (FRQS Research Scholar Junior 1), with an expertise on cardiometabolic disease, preventive cardiology and on cardiovascular health in women. She obtained her PhD from Laval University on emerging cardiometabolic risk factors and cardiovascular health in women. She completed a post-doctoral training at University of Oxford (Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) on cardiometabolic diseases and cardiometabolic imaging. She is a Fellow from the Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health of the American Heart Association (FAHA) and she serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society for the Canadian Clinical Dyslipidemia (2020) and Heart Failure Guidelines (2021). Dr Piché is the co-Director of the advanced imaging platform from the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute Research Centre and she leads the set up of the first Women’s and Minorities Cardiovascular Health Center in Quebec. Her clinical and research interests focus on the interplay between obesity, cardiometabolic diseases and cardiac dysfunction leading to heart failure among women and minorities. She used advanced cardiac imaging and biomarkers to better diagnose and improve management, outcomes and quality of life of women and minorities in the context of preventive cardiology.
