Nicole Tegg is a Registered Nurse with a clinical background in Obstetrics. She completed her Master of Nursing with a research focus at the University of Alberta in April 2023. She is presently working as a women’s heart health research coordinator.
Nicole’s master’s work focused on improving the quality of care for women affected by heart health concerns. She planned, implemented, and completed a project with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, which surveyed Canadian emergency departments for the use of female-specific cardiovascular protocols and identified a paucity of female-specific protocols. Additionally, she explored clinical and comorbid data in an identified cohort of Albertan women who presented to an emergency department between 1-15 times in the 30 days prior to experiencing a heart attack.
Nicole is starting her PhD in the fall of 2023 at the University of Alberta. In her PhD studies, Nicole’s research will focus on the impact of estrogen on women’s cardiovascular health across the lifespan.
Nicole is passionate about being involved in awareness and research initiatives related to women’s heart health. In October 2021, Nicole joined the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance (CWHHA) to learn from experts and patient partners. She is passionate about advocating for women’s heart health through Wear Red Canada.
